Mission and Purpose:
Toilets Are Us was founded to provide a market place for toilets that increase ADA accessibility, fit the specific needs for individuals, municipalities, and businesses. To increase the access to restrooms both in the commercial and public space while reducing the amount of water needed to operate them where ever possible.
Handicap ADA accessibility is very important at Toilets Are Us, it is the reason for our core focus on providing ADA accessibility in the portable toilet space. As the grandchild of a man who was wheelchair bound, due to a car accident, for over 44 years until his death at 71 in 2005, he would share with me that years ago handicap accessibility was very scarce where ever he went, unfortunately it is still lacking today.
Although his unfortunate circumstances did not lead to the improvement of wheelchair accessibility right away, it did lead to the increased safety in every car around the world. His story lead a college classmate to push for seatbelts and increase safety measures in the automotive industry. His classmate was instrumental in the passage of the 1966 Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
ADA complimenting accessories are also important for the elderly and disabled ensuring the safety of individuals using the lavatory. They too are a core focus and will be available in the near future.
Accessibility and fitting for larger size individuals is also a focus. Being a tall person, some toilets feel like more like a oversize soup can than a toilet. This is why we have core focus on elongated models where ever possible.
Off Grid, composting, waterless and regenerative options are also a core focus at Toilets Are Us. Do to there smaller impact on the environment and with often less maintenance.
